On Tuesday, May 10, 2016, the U.S. Embassy held a reception at Harbourfront Lounge in appreciation of its key partners who support safe and responsible travel to the United States as well as provide services to assist American citizens in The Bahamas. The event served as an opportunity to recognize some of the Embassy’s most critical and helpful contacts. U.S. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Lisa Johnson hosted the reception which was attended by Archbishop Patrick Pinder, Catholic Diocese, Mr. Harrison Thompson, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, senior government officials, and many other distinguished partners. Chargé Johnson gave remarks expressing gratitude for the hard work and collaboration between the U.S. Embassy and its key partners in assisting American citizens, facilitating visa services, combatting fraud. During the event, the U.S. Embassy formally recognized three individuals who provided exceptional service over the last year. This year’s award recipients are Assistant Superintendent Marlon Fulford and Constable Sherquell Forbes from the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) Prosecutions Section for assistance with the Embassy’s fraud prevention programs and Dr.Mishelle Grant who works as a social worker at Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre. With over six million U.S. visitors to The Bahamas each year and visa applicants from over 100 different countries, the U.S. Embassy dedicates significant resources to providing courteous consular services that promote the safety and welfare of American citizens and facilitated the legitimate travel of foreign nationals to the United States.
