U.S. officials meet with Bahamas' Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration

NASSAU, Bahamas --  On Friday, October 28, 2016, Acting Assistant Secretary in the Department of State's Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs Mari Carmen Aponte, accompanied by U.S. Charge d'Affaires Lisa Johnson, met with The Bahamas' Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, The Hon. Fred Mitchell, and MFA officials for a lunch meeting at Graycliff Restaurant in Nassau to discuss issues of mutual interest.

A U.S. Department of State notice said the trip was to "assess hurricane recovery efforts and meet with senior government officials on a range of bilateral and regional issues.

Acting Assistant Secretary Aponte will also participate in events to underscore the importance of civil society and to promote youth empowerment."
