Nassau, Bahamas – Adel Gay (left) and Hugh Chase (right), members of the Value Added Tax (VAT) implementation team outlined the details of VAT, why it was chosen over alternatives and a laundry list of breadbasket items that will be VAT-exempt during a presentation at the monthly Parent Teachers Association meeting at Oakes Field Primary.

The extent of items, including sandwich meats, milk and mayonnaise, to be exempted from VAT was welcome news to attendees. The VAT unit has intensified its public education campaign with up to three presentations daily.
