Nassau, Bahamas - TCL Group’s Bahamas Business Outlook (BBO)Series has added a new, timely element to its 2018 seven-island business platform series -The “Ease of Doing Business Workshop”, which is to be conducted by experts from the Department of Inland Revenue (DIR) under the Ministry of Finance.
The Workshop is partnership between TCL and the Ministry, with the aim of improving The Bahamas’ global rank in respect of the “Ease of Doing Business”. It was first introduced at the Eleuthera, Spanish Wells and Harbour Island Business Outlook in April of this year.
Joan Albury, creator of BBO, explained that the Ease of Doing Business Workshop addresses subjects that directly affect the local business sector, not only in New Providence but in the major Family Island communities. That the Ministry of Finance’ commitment to the initiative matches TCL’s is reflected in the fact that nine seasoned MOF officers will be involved in delivering the seminars.
“This workshop will introduce the business community to the Ministry’s recently established Internet-based process aimed at making business licensing processes easier, faster and better for Bahamian companies,” she said. “It is ideal for current business owners and those considering going into their own business.”
The key objectives of the programme include: making the information for registration of new businesses more accessible to the public; introducing a combined application form for issuing approvals for business operation, eliminating the need for filling many forms and physically calling on each of the relevant government agencies to submit them. The new procedure thereby reduces approval delays, which, in the past, have often proven costly in terms of time and taking advantage of opportunities.
By the end of the Business Outlook workshop, participants will be more familiar with the new online application process, how to complete and submit the relevant application(s) based on the nature of their business, where to access links for submission of forms and will have gained an overall, workable understanding of how the process works.
