Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - The Bahamas International Maritime Conference and Trade Show (BIMCATS) 2010 results from collaboration of the Ministry of The Environment and Bahamas Maritime Authority with public and private sector partners and took place on Grand Bahama at the Our Lucaya Beach and Golf Resort from February 9th to the 12th.

The Bahamas Weekly News Team provides you with video interviews with Minister of the Environment the Hon Earl Deveaux; Ian Fair, Chairman of the Bahamas Maritime Authority; Carla Stewart, Director of Cruise Development, Ministry of Tourism;  as well as coverage of the exciting live indigenous performances organized by The Ministry of Tourism Grand Bahama.

You will see excerpts of sultry Bahamian entertainment by KB, Jay Mitchell, The Backyard Dancers with the Island Boys Rake 'n Scrape Band, and the Julien Collie Dancers, and the Defense Force Pop Band during a Fish Fry event put on by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism ...

Under the theme ‘The Maritime Sector and the Environment’, the conference's aim was:

  • to highlight how sustainable maritime policy development and technological advances offset environmental degradation;
  • to stimulate interest in the many world class maritime services offered in The Bahamas; and
  • to encourage leading shipping companies to consider registering their vessels on the Bahamian Ship Register.
The conference was officially opened by the Hon. Earl Deveaux, Minister of the Environment.
