Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - January 7th, 2012 what was planned to be a truly Grand day on Grand Bahama Island for business persons and the hundreds of travelers on-board the MSC Poesia cruise ship, fell short of expectations when the 93,300 ton ship with a capacity of approximately 3,013 ran aground.

Earlier today Captian D'von Archer, a Grand Bahama based Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association (BASRA) official reported to the website: http://my.pinkfroot.com that the Cruise Liner MSC Poesia had run aground at Port Lucaya near Freeport, Bahamas. Later that evening at 10:59pm, when asked for further updates Captain Archer reported that, "They waited for the tide to get high at 18:00, she was pulled off with 4 tugs and a 5th tug standing by. At 20:00hrs she was free and continued on her journey at 19.5 kts to little Salvador. So I assume minimal damage, if any! (with that speed!)."
