Minister of National Security gives updates on the Bahamas Unmanned Aerial System

Defence Headquarters, (RBDF): The Minister of National Security, the Honorable Marvin Dames along with a team from the Swift Tactical Systems gave updates on the Bahamas Unmanned Aerial System on November 18, 2020 at Defence Headquarters, John. F. Kennedy Drive.  

The short and medium range drones allow operators to have a bird’s eye view of targeted areas and to effectively assist government agencies in combatting illicit activities. Also, in attendance were Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Mr. Marco Rolle; Commander Defence Force Commodore Raymond King; and the various heads of Law Enforcement Agencies.

Representatives from the Swift Tactical Systems gave updates on the features of the smaller drones and how they integrate with the existing technology. The various Law Enforcement Agencies also highlighted the effectiveness and capabilities of the drones in their various organizations.   

A contract signing was held in December 2019 for the 17 million dollars drones, which are part of the Ministry of National Security’s multi-agency Drone Program. The Drone Training program is scheduled to start Monday 23 November at the RBDF Training facilities.
