Nassau, Bahamas - The Hon. V. Alfred Gray, Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources, was presented with AgriVision 2021: A Five Year Food and Nutrition Security Plan to Feed The Bahamas.

AgriVision 2021 is a production by The Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI). It is centered around the Christie Government’s Import Substitution Policy which will address the staggering national food import bill which has passed the billion-dollar mark and placing The Bahamas in food deficit position.

A central component of AgriVision is the Associated Farmers’ Programme (AFP) which will comprise a network of farmers throughout the archipelago. It is this grouping that will feed The Bahamas and reduce food imports. The AFP will dramatically transform the food production landscape of The Bahamas by putting it on an economically sustainable basis thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the nation’s food production system.
