On February 14, 2019 the Government of Nicaragua held important conversations with a delegation of the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS), to advance on the path to needed electoral reforms in the framework of the Constitution, among other issues.

The OAS General Secretariat has designated Luis Ángel Rosadilla as its Special Envoy to Nicaragua.

At the request of the Government of Nicaragua, Rosadilla will analyze, beginning March 11, together with the actors participating in the Meeting for Understanding and Negotiation for Peace being held by the Government of Reconciliation and National Unity and the Civic Alliance for Justice and Democracy, the eventual participation of the OAS General Secretariat in the process.
