The Government of Honduras and the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) have been working since March on the technical and professional elements needed to strengthen and improve the capacities of The Mission to Support the Fight against Corruption and Impunity in Honduras (MACCIH).

In that sense, and with the aim of strengthening support for the fight against corruption, the fight against impunity and the corresponding institutional parameters, President Juan Orlando Hernández and Secretary General Luis Almagro met on Monday at OAS headquarters in Washington D.C. to announce the appointment and subsequent acceptance by the Honduran Government of Dr. Luiz Antonio Marrey Guimaraes as the new Spokesman of the MACCIH.

The two sides committed themselves to support the incoming Spokesman, while reiterating their desire to move ahead with neutrality, effectiveness and rigor in the work needed for institutional strengthening, and to accompany the building of a system that fights corruption and impunity in the country in line with the Honduran constitution.
