The new Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic, Josué Fiallo, today presented his credentials to the Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Luis Almagro, during a ceremony at the headquarters of the hemsiferic institution. Ambassador Fiallo stressed that his country and the OAS share the same values. "On behalf of the President, Danilo Medina, I want to reiterate the commitment of the Dominican Republic to the four pillars of the Organization: democracy, human rights, sustainable development and multidimensional security," said the Dominican diplomat. For his part, Secretary General Almagro said that the Dominican Republic is a key actor in meeting the objectives of the Inter-American agenda. “The OAS has important challenges ahead to generate spaces that give our people more security, more equity and better development conditions and the Dominican Republic is a fundamental partner in this venture,” added the Secretary General. The Dominican Republic is one of the 21 founding countries of the OAS.
