The
Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José
Miguel Insulza, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and
Immigration of The Bahamas, Frederick A. Mitchell, in his office in
Washington, DC.
During the meeting, the two discussed migration flows in the
Hemisphere and the policies that countries apply in the area. They also
discussed the election of the next Secretary General and Assistant
Secretary General of the Organization, to be held on
March 18 next year. In addition, they discussed the 7th Summit of the Americas, to be held in Panama in April 2015.
Foreign Minister Mitchell will make a presentation to the Permanent Council of the Organization
tomorrow,
Tuesday December 16.
Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Representative of
The Bahamas to the OAS, Ambassador Elliston Rahming, and the Assistant
Secretary General of the institution, Ambassador Albert Ramdin.
