The Secretary
General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José Miguel
Insulza, expressed his “most sincere condolences” to the government and
people of France “over the tragic attack committed against the staff of
the
Parisian weekly Charlie Hebdo,” which took the life of twelve people.
In a letter senT to the President of France, François Hollande,
Secretary General Insulza writes that “the OAS unreservedly condemns
this act of terrorism that threatens freedom of the press and freedom of
expression,” and expresses his support “to the government
and people of France at this difficult time.”
The leader of the hemispheric Organization concludes the letter stating
that “we are shocked by this terrible act and send to you our deepest
sympathies.”
