The OAS Electoral Observation Mission to the General and Regional Elections in Guyana recognizes that the country’s courts are currently considering the way forward in determining the results of the 2020 elections.

We urge the people of Guyana to respect the legal process and to continue waiting patiently until it is completed.

The OAS Mission, like other international election observer missions, is present in Guyana, on the invitation of the Government of Guyana, to support democracy and democratic processes, and will continue to be scrupulously objective and impartial in doing so.

The Mission again urges all citizens to remain calm and to respect the electoral process as prescribed in Guyana’s legislation.
