The Follow-up Mechanism to the Belém do Pará Convention (MESECVI) salutes the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Additional Protocol to the American Convention on Human Rights in the area of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, better known as the San Salvador Protocol. The international event was organized by the Working Group of the Protocol of San Salvador (WGPSS), with the cooperation of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Department of Social Inclusion of the Organization of American States (OAS).

"We salute the 30 years of the Protocol and the 10 years of the Working Group, which has provided a basic and indispensable tool to measure economic, social and cultural rights in the region," said the Technical Secretary of the MESECVI, Luz Patricia Mejía Guerrero, who participated in the panel on the European and Latin American experience in measurement. She added that "the MESECVI has also been using the System of Indicators for the measurement of human rights from a gender perspective. In short, we have integrated different entities of the OAS and its Committees to monitor the implementation of public policies."
