NASSAU, Bahamas  – High school students have an opportunity to win $150,000 in scholarships now that Sunshine Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Ltd. has opened its 14th annual Elmira College essay competition.

Last year, Kingsway Academy student, Brittney Wells won the top prize – a $60,000 scholarship to attend Elmira College in New York.

Tenth, 11th and 12th grade students will have to submit essays in order to be considered. This year’s topic is, “If given the opportunity to start a business, what would your new product or service be?”

Essays must be three to five pages, 12-point size, double-spaced and must be submitted along with an entry form.

Entry forms may be obtained at Sunshine Insurance or online at the company’s website, www.sunshine-insurance.com under the “news” section.

Students have until November 10th to enter. All essays must be emailed to executive@elmiracollegeenactus.com or submitted in person to Sunshine Insurance’s East Shirley Street or Baillou Hill Road location between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Family Island students must be able to travel to New Providence to present their ideas if they are chosen as a finalist.
