Freeport, Grand Bahama - The Freeport Players’ Guild announces the
2010 High School Playwriting Competition. This contest is open to all high
school students of Grades 10-12 in Grand Bahama.
Students will be required to write a one
act play with no more than eight (8) characters. Play structure, realistic
dialogue, staging, and characterization will be studied by the judges. This is
a great way for high school students to hone their writing skills and encourage
their friends to perform on stage.
Three Grand Prize winners will be selected
by the judges to have their plays performed at the Regency Theatre in October.
The winning writers will be apprenticed to a veteran director of the Freeport
Players’ Guild and mentored in directing a play. Students from all schools are
invited to audition for roles in the plays once the winners have been
announced.
The deadline for all submissions will be
June 30, 2010. Inquiries can be made through members of the Freeport Players’
Guild Executive Board or by calling 375-2363 or e-mail freeportplayersguild@gmail.com.
