NASSAU, Bahamas, April 5, 2016 -- Students in The Bahamas, Bermuda and Cayman Islands have until April 15 to enroll in the DHL Solar Grand Challenge for a chance to help revolutionize solar power and win $10,000.

A partnership between technology-solutions company STEMBoard and DHL Express, the Solar Grand Challenge gives students throughout the Caribbean an opportunity to create portable, low-cost solar energy solutions. The program culminates in a solar-energy education track and pitch competition at STEMBoard’s second-annual Hack<IT> technology camp at St. Andrew’s School in Nassau, July 18-23.

Students from the winning team will earn up to $10,000 in prizes and may see DHL Express implement their idea to reduce utility costs at its facilities.

“We are excited to partner with DHL Express to continue to bring world-class opportunities to the youth of the Caribbean,” said STEMBoard Co-Founder and CEO Aisha Bowe, herself a Bahamian-American. “This year’s camp leverages international experts in engineering and entrepreneurship to encourage foster the development renewable energy initiatives.”
