Grand Bahama Island - The Bahamas’ first ever Olympian snowboarder Korath Wright, left, is pictured as Magnus Alnebeck, general manager, welcomed him to Pelican Bay at Lucaya during an overnight media blitz to garner support on Grand Bahama Island.
The hotel hosted Wright, his publicist and photographer during their stay on the island.
While at Pelican Bay, Wright and his team were feted at lunch at Sabor Restaurant and Bar in the garden of the hotel overlooking the water.
He was joined by Dave Mackey and Robbin Whachell of TheBahamasWeekly.com, an online Bahamas publication, Miss Grand Bahama, Garelle Hudson, and Alnebeck.
Wright competes for The Bahamas in the February 2010 Winter Olympics being held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Wright, age 23, moved from The Bahamas to Canada with his mother at age 1 and began snowboarding.
Wright made history when he qualified for the Olympics while competing in Quebec in March this year at the International Ski Federation 2008/2009 World Cup qualifiers.
Wright coaches at a snowboarding camp each summer at Mount Hood, Oregon.
He hopes to get some Bahamian children involved in snowboarding.
Wright’s trip to Grand Bahama Island was sponsored by TheBahamasWeekly.com, Regional Air and Pelican Bay at Lucaya.
