A love story unfolds at Pelican Bay Hotel with the Congello-Vento wedding:
Coming from New York, Greg and I knew that
a Destination Wedding would be a bit of a challenging sell
for our families,
who were accustomed to big, extravagant, black-tie events.
But we always knew
that a New York-style wedding was not reflective of our
passions or our
personalities.
The Bahamas was the perfect
destination because the
flight was a reasonable length for our guests, the beaches
were pristine, the
people are exceptionally friendly, and the culture is fun.
When we decided on
Grand Bahama Island, we booked a trip the year before our
exact wedding date to
look at venues and check out the weather.
As soon as
we checked into
Pelican Bay we were in love. The hotel accommodations are
just big enough that
as a guest, you never feel like a number, you feel like
you're a part of the
staff's lives. Marva was amazing. While there were other
hotels that wouldn't
even make themselves available to meet with us, Marva met
with us three times
during our first visit.
I cannot tell you how amazing
I felt a year
later to come back to the Bahamas and walk through the lobby
where everyone
remembered us. As a bride, I can honestly say that the
people at Pelican Bay
made me feel like a bride (even when I didn't have my
wedding dress on). Not
only our wedding day, but our entire wedding weekend, was
important to each of
the staff members at Pelican Bay, and it showed in their
constant
thoughtfulness and willingness to go above and beyond in
everything they did
for not only Greg and I, but all of our guests.
After
throwing our
families for a loop with the Destination Wedding idea, we
all have no regrets.
Our wedding became a weekend-long memory and it is still the
topic of
conversation. So many of our guests have said that is was
the best wedding they
had ever been to and that no New York wedding can ever top
that.
Anyone
who lives in New York would understand that to hear people
say that is an
unbelievable testament to the dedication and service of
everyone at Pelican
Bay. Marva was an exceptional liaison between the hotel,
vendors, and her
clients. She treated our wedding as if it were her own
child's wedding and
fulfilled every wish that we had. She was honest, warm, and
sincere…she
really connects with each of her couples and that meant a
lot to Greg and I.
The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was beautiful, the
service was
perfect. Our wedding exceeded our own expectations in every
way.
If I
could relive our wedding day, I would not change a thing.
Greg and I are so
happy with our destination wedding, and I would highly
recommend Pelican bay
Hotel to anyone who is also considering a Destination
Wedding.
