Grand Bahama Island,
Bahamas – Winners of Pelican Bay at Lucaya’s PIN Programme were
recognized for outstanding levels of service rendered to guests during
a recent luncheon at the hotel.
First place winner Stanley

accepted cash rewards from the hotel’s general manager Magnus
Alnebeck.
PIN is a programme that was launched several years ago for guests to
recognize high performing hotel employees. Guests are issued Pelican
Pins that are pinned to an instruction card as they check in at Pelican
Bay. Guests then use these Pelican Pins to instantly recognize
employees for excellent service.

Softball team members were hosted at a special reception recently to
celebrate its advancement to the League’s season playoffs.

social event brought together Pelican Bay staff and its business associates
from US Immigration and Customs, Freeport Aggregates and Underwater
Explorer’s Society, who banded together with the group to form and
boost the team.

Barracudas, a rookie team, set a record when it made it to playoffs
after only being initiated into play in May and operating with team

Bahamian Olympian Snowboarder Korath Wright Welcomed to Pelican Bay - May 19, 2009 - 11:32:31 AM
Grand Bahama Island - The Bahamas’ first ever Olympian snowboarder Korath Wright, left, is pictured as Magnus Alnebeck, general manager, welcomed him to Pelican Bay at Lucaya during an overnight media blitz to garner support on Grand Bahama Island.
The hotel hosted Wright, his publicist and photographer during their stay on the island.
While at Pelican Bay, Wright and his team were feted at lunch at Sabor Restaurant and Bar in the garden of the hotel overlooking the water.
He was joined by Dave Mackey and Robbin Whachell of TheBahamasWeekly.com, an online Bahamas publication, Miss Grand Bahama, Garelle Hudson, and Alnebeck.

Grand Bahama Island - Extended stay guests at Pelican Bay at Lucaya now have a new experience to look forward to when staying at the hotel.
Pelican Bay at Lucaya recently introduced a programme whereby extended stay guests are welcomed with a gold fish in a bowl and given one as a pet to care for during a stay at the hotel.
“The gold fish have been well received by our long stay guests,” said Della Bridgewater, front office manager at the hotel.
“Being away from home, our guests may be lonely and having a pet for companionship while on the road is comforting.”
Miss Bridgewater further said:
“All gold fish are all named and carry a name such as Lola.
We do all we can to give our guests a home away from home experience.”

Grand Bahama Island - The management team at Pelican Bay at Lucaya joined in the jubilation of having one of its long-time staff members, Stanley Williams, walk away as Employee of the Year at the 13th Annual Cacique Awards held at the Rainforest Theatre, New Providence, January 30th.
Williams is a bell captain and a three-plus year employee at Pelican Bay.
Of this Cacique win, Della Bridgewater, Pelican Bay’s front office manager, says: “This is a great achievement for Stanley.
We celebrate with him.”
She added: “I look forward to continued work with him.

Pelican Bay at Lucaya recently hosted its third annual Corporate Appreciation Evening.
Executives and staff from scores of local companies turned out for the event, which was held at Sabor Restaurant and Bar at Pelican Bay.
The hotel’s general manager, Magnus Alnebeck, thanked “the local companies that continue to support Pelican Bay.”
He said, “We credit you for being the reason why Pelican Bay continues to enjoy high occupancies.
Some months are actually higher than occupancy for the same month previous years.”
Pelican Bay will further strengthen its corporate business with construction of The Canal House, a $7.1-million state of the art Conference and Meeting Centre slated for opening at the end of 2009.

Pelican Bay Hotel at Lucaya has generously stepped up and made a $10,000 donation to support the building of the bridge at the Lucayan National Park. Magnus Alnebeck, General Manager of Pelican Bay Hotel at Lucaya and Marva Munroe, Director of Sales and Marketing, were on hand at the park to present the cheque and to tour the nearly finished bridge, the boardwalks and the caves.
In making the donation, Magnus Alnebeck said “We hope that other companies will follow suit in making a financial contribution toward the restoration of the bridge at the Lucayan National Park. The park is one of Grand Bahama Island’s unique experiences that sets it apart from other vacation destinations...”

Pelican Bay at Lucaya was the featured resort for the Miami Panthers Football Team’s 2009 Ice Dancer Calendar shoot October 19 - 22.
Videography and stills photography featuring the 17-strong Ice Dancers were shot around the resort and Grand Bahama Island.
The dancers and crew spent a total of four days and three nights at Pelican Bay at Lucaya as they shot scenes around the resort and at attractions on the island.
Pictured at the resort’s Neptune’s Pool with the Ice Dancers is Pelican Bay at Lucaya’s general manager, Magnus Alnebeck.

Grand Bahama Island - Pelican Bay
at Lucaya was recently recognized for its contribution to the Grand Bahama
Sailing Club’s Summer Camp for children ages 8 - 15.
The resort co-sponsored the camp by donating
room nights valued at $15,000 to accommodate camp coaches.
Pelican Bay also sponsored training coaches’
accommodation the camp’s first year in 2007.
The camp is a milestone in itself in that it is the first to launch the
“Sailing Experience” for kids on Grand Bahama Island.
As a result of the Camps, and now through
membership, the Club has entered a record high of 21 boats and 18 children in
The Opti Sailing Junior Championships of the Bahamas Optimist Nationals being
held at Montagu Bay, Nassau, New Providence September 27 and 28.
The group travels to Nassau on Friday lunch
time, returning Monday morning.
The
Regatta is being organized and co-hosted by The Bahamas Sailing Association,
The Bahamas Optimist Association, The Nassau Yacht Club and The Royal Nassau
