RBPF: Suspect who shot at police turns himself in

Nassau, Bahamas - UPDATE: Police are reporting that Philano Rashad Williams of Alexander Drive, Sunset Park, who shot at police during a high-speed chase on Sunday 27th December 2015, turned himself in to officers at the Southwestern Division (Carmichael Police Station) shortly after 6:00pm this evening (Monday 28th December 2015).

Williams is being questioned by Detectives from the Central Detective Unit in connection with a number of serious offences.

Dec 27: Police have launched an island wide manhunt for 27 - year old Philano Rashad Williams of Alexander Drive, Sunset Park, who shot at police during a high-speed chase on Sunday 27th December 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00pm, police received a report of gunshots being fired in the London Avenue area off Carmichael Road. Upon their arrival, they saw a dark green vehicle speeding off. The officers gave chase and ordered the occupants to stop. They refused and continued driving off. Police gave chase and the vehicle stopped a short distance away, where the suspect Williams armed with two handguns got out and began firing at the officers. The officers returned fire and the suspect Williams fled on foot with the two handguns in his hands. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the suspect. Police were able to arrest two males and a female who remained in the vehicle. The female who was shot during the exchange of gunfire was transported to hospital where she remains in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
