2 drug seizures in Cat Island, man and woman in custody

POLICE IN CAT ISLAND MAKE TWO SEPARATE DRUG SEIZURES – A MAN AND WOMAN IN CUSTODY

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, Police in Cat Island took a man and a woman into custody following two separate drug seizures on that Island on Thursday 13th October 2016.

In the first incident, shortly before 2:00pm, police in Cat Island were on routine patrol in Smiths Bay, Cat Island, when they saw an adult male with a bag in his hand acting suspiciously. The officers conducted a search of the bag and found one and a half pounds of marijuana. The male was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

Then shortly before 3:00pm, police in Cat Island conducted a search of a truck driven by a woman in New Bight and uncovered four pounds of marijuana. The woman was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

DRUGS SEIZED

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, on Wednesday 12th October 2016 shortly after 10:00am, officers from the Southwestern Division acting on intelligence went to an area in front of a business establishment located on Carmichael Road, where they uncovered a quantity of marijuana. No one was arrested for this discovery.

FIREARM SEIZED

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, shortly after 10:00am on Thursday 13th October 2016, officers from the Mobile Division acting on intelligence, went to an area behind a home located on McCollough Corner, where they uncovered a .22 rifle. No one was arrested for this discovery.
