$436,000 Drug Bust in Bimini by DEU Officers

BIMINI, The Bahamas - An intelligence led operation by Drug Enforcement Unit Officers has dealt a major blow to drug traffickers in the country, after a 52 – year old American man and a 36 – year old Bahamian man were arrested for possession of a huge quantity of marijuana in Bimini on Monday 30th March 2015.

According to reports, around 10:00am, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit with the assistance of their counterparts from the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and officers from Bimini Division went to South Bimini, where they executed a search warrant on a 38 - foot US registered sailboat owned by the American suspect.

During the search the officers uncovered a number of packages of marijuana totaling 436 pounds with and estimated street value of $436,000.00. The two suspects were subsequently arrested in connection with this discovery and transported along with the drugs to New Providence.
