Body found after house fire in North Eleuthera

ELEUTHERA, Bahamas - Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body burned beyond recognition found in a house following fire on Thursday 24th November 2016.

Reports are that shortly before 3:00am, Police in Eleuthera received a report of a building fire in Current, North Eleuthera. When responding officers arrived on the scene they met a two storey home engulf in flames. Despite the courageous efforts by the police and community volunteers the fire destroyed three adjacent homes. When the fire was extinguished, the officers while conducting a search of one of the homes found the body of a human being burnt beyond recognition. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cost of death.

A team of officers from the Police Fire Services and Central Detective Unit are in Eleuthera assisting with the investigation.
