Exuma, BAHAMAS - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit
(DEU) struck another blow against organized drug trafficking in The Bahamas, this time with the seizure of a
large amount of marijuana and the arrest of two persons in the Exuma Cays on Thursday 11th May 2017.
According to reports, around 2:00pm, a team of officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted
by officers from the Police Marine Support Services Branch acting on intelligence conducted a search of
an area on Big Galliot Cay in the Exuma Chains, where they uncovered nine crocus bags containing 120
pounds of marijuana. An adult Jamaican male and an adult Bahamian Male from New Providence were
taken into custody in connection with this discovery.
Investigations are ongoing.
