Over 40 pound of cocaine seized in Inagua, 5 arrests

INAGUA, Bahamas - Excellent Police work by officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) along with their international partners has struck another blow against organized drug trafficking in The Bahamas with the seizure of a large amount of cocaine and the arrest of five persons on Tuesday 26th January 2016.

Reports are, that shortly before 8:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by officers from the Inagua Division, US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and US Coastguard on operation in Inagua, conducted a search of large steel vessel and found just over 40 pounds of cocaine.

Four Haitian men and a Bahamian man onboard the vessel was subsequently taken into custody.
