Police make two major drug seizures in Bimini

BIMINI, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit along with U.S Law Enforcement Officers took three men in custody after they seized a large amount of dangerous drugs during two separate incidents in Bimini on Sunday 19th March 2017.

The first incident took place shortly after 8:00am, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on South Bimini where they discovered 191.5 lbs. of marijuana with a street value of over $191,000 (one hundred and ninety one thousand dollars). A 54 year old male resident of Bimini was taken into police custody.

In the second incident, officers while in Bimini stopped a vessel and discovered on this vessel 20 lbs. of suspected cocaine with a street value of $225,000 (two hundred and twenty five thousand dollars) and also 10 lbs. of marijuana with a street value of $10,000 (ten thousand dollars). A 43 and 42 year old males were arrested and taken into custody in connection with this matter.

All suspects are expected to be arraigned before the Magistrate Court later this week.
