RBPF Abaco: Shooting incident/attempted armed robbery

Abaco, Bahamas - Police in Abaco are investigating a shooting incident and attempted armed robbery of an off duty police officer.

Reports are that on Monday 28th March 2016, around 9:00pm, an off duty police officer while on Don McKay Blvd, Marsh Harbour, Abaco, at a parking lot, was accosted by a mask male armed with a handgun in an armed robbery attempt, the weapon was discharged which resulted in the officer receiving injuries. The culprit then made good his escape in nearby bushes. The officer was treated at the Marsh Harbour Clinic, with non-life threatening injuries and discharged.

Police are actively investigating this matter and are appealing to anyone who may have any information that can assist them in their investigation, to call them at telephone numbers in Abaco at 367-3437/ 367-2560, at the Central Detective Unit in Grand Bahama at telephone numbers 350-3107 thru 12, 919/911 or call your nearest police station.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) or 1-242-300-8477 (FAMILY ISLANDS)
