RBPF: American dies while swimming at Great Sturrup Cay

Police are investigating the apparent drowning of an American woman in waters at Great Sturrup Cay off Berry Islands on Sunday 26th November, 2017. 

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, the American woman was swimming with family members in the water near Great Sturrup Cay when she became unconscious. The woman was taken to shore and despite extensive CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) efforts was declared dead by a medical doctor. 

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.  

Investigations are continuing.
