One dead after Exuma boat explosion

EXUMA, Bahamas - Police on the Island of Exuma are investigating a boating accident which left one person dead and several others injured, Saturday, 30th June, 2018.

According to reports, shortly after 9:00 a.m., a 40’ chartered tour boat was traveling in waters just off Barraterre, Exuma, with ten (10) tourists and two (2) Bahamians on board, when an engine exploded causing the boat to catch afire. Ten persons on board the boat were injured and transported to the mini hospital in George Town. One female succumbed to her injuries. Several others are being airlifted for further medical treatment. 

Investigations are ongoing.
