Police in Bimini and Grand Bahama continue to arrest for firearm and dangerous drugs

The first incident occurred on Tuesday 10th May 2016 shortly after 11:00am, officers of Operation Turf Sweep while in the area of Weddell Avenue in an abandoned apartment complex discovered (12) .357 rounds of hollow tip ammunition. No arrest was made in this matter.

The second incident occurred shortly thereafter, officers of Operation Turf Sweep while in the Adventurers Way area searched a vehicle where they discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. A 21 year old male of Freeport, Grand Bahama was arrested and a further search of his premises officers discovered two additional clear plastic bags of suspected marijuana.

The third incident occurred on Tuesday 10th May 2016, shortly after 1:00pm, officers at the Grand Bahama International Airport, Domestic Section were alerted of a suspicious object in a cooler bag that was presented at the security check point and discovered a .40 pistol with (9) hollow tip ammunition. An American male and female were arrested for this matter.

The fourth incident occurred shortly after 1:00am on Wednesday 11th May 2016 in Bimini, officers while on mobile patrol acting on information went to the Porgy Bay area where officers attempted to search a vehicle, the driver speed off, officers gave chase and later caught the suspect in the Bailey Town area, where he was found in possession of a .40 pistol with (12) rounds of ammunition. A 43 year old male of Bailey Town, Bimini was arrested for this matter.

They are all expected to be arraigned before the Magistrate Court this week.

Police are also urging anyone who may have any information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) or 1-242-300-8477 (FAMILY ISLANDS)
