Andros, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Police Plan for 2017, a team of courageous officers assigned to the South Andros District struck big blow in the operations of drug traffickers in the Bahamas on Thursday 18th May 2017, this time with the seizure of a large quantity of marijuana and the arrest of two suspects on that island.

Reports are that around 6:00am, a team of officers from the South Andros District, acting on intelligence went to a bushy area in Mars Bay, where they uncovered just over one thousand pounds of marijuana packaged in 44 nylon sacks, 19 small bags and a suit case.

The street value of the drugs is just over one million dollars.

Two two men were arrested on the scene and taken into custody. Drug Enforcement Unit Officers later transported the drugs and suspects to New Providence.

ANYONE WITH INFORMATION REGARDING ANY CRIME, NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR INSIGNIFICANT (THE TIP) MAY SEEM, IS URGED TO ANONYMOUSLY CONTACT THE POLICE AT 919 OR CRIME STOPPERS AT 328-TIPS (8477) (NEW PROVIDENCE) OR 1-242-300-8476 (FAMILY ISLANDS)

CRIME PREVENTION TIP OF THE WEEK

ONE OF THE MOST USEFUL TOOLS FOR CRIME PREVENTION IS TO CALL YOUR LOCAL POLICE. YOU MAY THINK THAT THE POLICE DO NOT WANT TO BE CALLED IF SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS IS HAPPENING, BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE. WHEN IN DOUBT, CALL THE POLICE.
