3 in custody for armed robbery, 15 arrested in 8 hrs

Police investigates armed robbery- 3 suspects in custody

The enduring and dedicated work and quick response of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force has led to the arrest of three suspects during an early morning armed robbery, Thursday, 19th July, 2018.

According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, three armed men entered upon the property of the Learning Resources Unit, Mackey Street, held the security officer and another man at bay and robbed the officer of a cell phone and a set of keys, before tying him up. Officers of the Operational Unit “Steady the Land” and Mobile Division Officers, responded to this location and after a short chase, captured the three suspects and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition and the stolen property.

The security officer was not injured; however, the second man who was gun butted, was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Investigations are ongoing.

15 Arrested by operation “STEADY THE LAND” officers during 8 hour-period

Operation Team targeted patrols, intended to reduce crime, and to minimize the ability for criminals to commit criminal activity, have resulted in the arrest of fifteen (15) persons during the past 8 hours.

They are: 3 adult males, 1 adult female and 2 juvenile females for possession of dangerous drugs. 4 adult males for Armed Robbery and Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition. 1 adult male and 1 adult female for outstanding warrants.

3 adult males for possession of unlicensed firearms and dangerous drugs.

Investigations into these matters are ongoing.

• Secure all important documents in a waterproof container.

• Be sure to have a first aid kit, medication, flash lights, and a battery operated radio on hand.

• Secure all loose objects, including lawn furniture, on your property and place pets inside for safe keeping.

• Keep several days’ supply of food and water for each family member.

• DO NOT USE GENERATORS INDOORS.

• Follow all instructions from your local authorities regarding evacuation or other safety procedures.
