American arrested at LPIA for failing to declare - Firearm & ammo seized at house on Davis St.

FIREARM AND AMMO SEIZED

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, Selective Enforcement Team officers took another illegal firearm off the streets of New Providence on Sunday 13th November 2016.

According to reports shortly after 12:00am on Friday 11th November 2016, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team acting on information uncovered a .40 Glock handgun with 6 rounds of ammunition behind a house on Davis Street. No one was arrested for this find.

AMERICAN MAN ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO DECLARE

An American man from Tampa, Florida, was taken into custody for Failing to Declare and Making a False Declaration on Sunday 13th November 2016.

According to reports, shortly after 3:00pm, the man was returning to the United States, when United States Customs and Border Protection officials detained him at the United States Pre-Clearance Departure Lounge at LPIA for Failing to Declare $29,000.00 and Making a False Declaration. The man was handed over to the police and is expected to appear in court later today to be formally charged.
