Bahamas DEU make large drug seizure, 2 Haitian Nationals in custody

Nassau, Bahamas - A 60 year old Haitian man and a 53 year old Haitian woman are in custody following a large drug seizure that occurred on Monday 7th July 2014.

According to reports, shortly before 2:00pm, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU)acting on intelligence executed a search warrant at a home located at Balls Alley off Shirley Street, where they uncovered 37 1⁄2 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $37,000.00 and a half (1⁄2) pound of cocaine with an estimated street value of $5,000.00.

The two suspects were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

POLICE are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)
