RBPF Nassau: 2 armed robberies - DEU Arrest 2 for proceeds of Crime at LPIA - Drug and stealing arrests

DEU ARREST TWO MEN FOR PROCEEDS OF CRIME AT LPIA

Nassau, Bahamas - Two (2) Bahamian men ages 44 and 34 are in custody after they were arrested for being in possession of the Proceeds of Crime on Monday 14th April 2014.

According to reports, around 2:30pm, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers while on duty at The Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) acting on intelligence conducted a search of the two men who were about to board a flight to Jamaica. The 44 year old man was found in possession of just over $9,000:00 in cash and the 34 year old man was found in possession of just over $5,000:00 in cash suspected to be the Proceeds of Crime. The men were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS MAKE DRUG AND STEALING ARRESTS.

In the first incident, shortly after 10:00pm on Monday 14th April 2014, Mobile Division Officers were on routine patrol on Dorsette Street, Fox Hill, where they observed a 23 - year old man acting in a suspicious manner. The officers conducted a search of the man and found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The man was taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged.

In the second incident, around11:00pm on Monday 14th April 2014, Mobile Division Officers acting on intelligence went to Cat Island Avenue, where they arrested a 17 – year old male who was wanted for stealing a scooter.
Additionally, Mobile Division Officers arrested three (3) persons for Outstanding Criminal Warrants and Two (2) persons for Breach of the Immigration Act on Monday 14th April 2014.

POLICE ARE REQUESTING THE PUBLIC’S ASSISTANCE IN SOLVING TWO ARMED ROBBERIES

POLICE are seeking the public’s assistance in solving two separate armed robberies that occurred on Monday 14th April 2014.

In the first incident, shortly before 9:00am, a man reported to police that while on Malcolm Road, two men in a white Toyota Corolla vehicle license number 179394 armed with a handgun robbed him of a briefcase containing a large amount of cash and sped off.

In the second incident, shortly after 1:00pm, a man was sitting in front of a building situated on Kemp Road, when three males armed with handguns robbed him of his jewelry before fleeing on foot.

Investigations are ongoing.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have any information regarding these two armed robberies, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)
