DEU & DEA make 2 million dollar drug bust - Montel Heights man arrested for firearm possession

DEU OFFICERS MAKE 2 MILLION DOLLAR DRUG BUST

A combination of teamwork and excellent 'textbook' police work has dealt a major blow to the drug traffickers in the Bahamas, after police arrested three men ages 42, 39 and 38 for possession of a huge quantity of marijuana on Thursday 31st July 2014.

According to reports, around 2:00am, a team of Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, the Police Marine Support Unit assisted by U.S Drug Enforcement Agents, acting on intelligence, intercepted a 30 foot Midnight Express vessel 30 miles southwest of New Providence with the three suspects on board.

Drug Enforcement Unit officers conducted a search of the vessel and found a large quantity of marijuana with an estimated street value of 2 million dollars. The three suspects were taken into custody and will appear in court at a later date to be formally charged.

MOBILE DIVISION OFFICERS MAKE FIREARM AND AMMUNITION ARREST

Nassau, Bahama s- A 23 year man of Montel Heights is in custody after he was arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition on Wednesday 30th July 2014.

According to reports, shortly before 6:00pm, Mobile Division officers acting on intelligence, conducted a search of a home located at Ethel Street, Montel Heights where they uncovered a shotgun along with a quantity of ammunition. The suspect was taken into custody and will appear in court at a later date to be formally charged.

In a separate incident, shortly before 2:00pm on Wednesday 30th July 2014, Mobile Division Officersacting on intelligence went to the rear of a house located at Ethel Street Montel Heights, where they uncovered a quantity of ammunition. No one was arrested for this incident.
