Firearm seized, Suspect in custody - 5 arrested, 38 drivers cited

FIREARM SEIZED, SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Central Division took a man into custody following the seizure of a handgun on Saturday 10th September 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 12:00midnight, officers from the Central Division arrested the suspect on West Hill Street, after they conducted a search and found a pistol in his possession. The suspect is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged.

5 ARRESTED, 38 DRIVERS CITED DURING CENTRAL DIVISION OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2016, officers from the Central Division conducted an operation in the division on Friday 9th September 2016 to send a clear message to those responsible for committing criminal acts on members of our communities, that the police will proactively identify them, thoroughly investigate the offences they commit, and ensure that they are prosecuted and brought to justice.

The operation resulted in 5 persons being arrested for a number of criminal offences to include armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Additionally, 38 drivers were cited for various traffic infractions.
