Firearms and drugs seized, 4 in custody

FIREARM SEIZED FOLLOWING CAR CHASE

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioners Policing Priorities for 2016, Officers from the Selective Enforcement Team seized an illegal firearm and arrested three adult males into custody following a car chase on Thursday 20th October, 2016.

Reports are that around 4:30pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on routine patrol on Sunset Park off Carmichael Road, when they saw three suspicious males riding in a white Honda vehicle. The males on seeing the officers sped off. The officers gave chase and one of the males threw a handgun out of the vehicle. The chase ended when the males ditched their vehicle on Pampono Court before fleeing on foot. After a short foot chase the officers arrested the three males. The handgun was recovered and found to be a .40 pistol with seven rounds of ammunition.

POLICE SEIZE AN ILLEGAL FIREARM AND A LARGE AMOUNT OF DRUGS IN NASSAU VILLAGE

Consistent with the Commissioners Policing Priorities for 2016, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers seized an illegal firearm and a large amount of drugs during an operation on Wednesday 19th October, 2016.

Reports are that around 11:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers were on an operation in Lawson Avenue, Nassau Village, when they conducted a search of an abandoned building and uncovered a .380 pistol along with two crocus bags containing just over 26 pounds of marijuana. No one was arrested for this discovery.

ANOTHER ILLEGAL GUN SEIZED, ONE MAN IN CUSTODY

Consistent with the Commissioners Policing Priorities for 2016, Mobile Division Officers seized an illegal firearm took an adult male into custody following the seizure of an illegal gun on Wednesday 19th October, 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 3:00pm, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on Durham Street, when they saw a suspicious male walking in the area. The officers conducted a search of the male and found a 9 – millimeter pistol with 16 rounds of ammunition. The male was subsequently taken into custody.
