Man arrested for alleged social media threats to kill police officers -

In response to several social media postings of a man threatening to kill police officers, police have arrested a 25 – year old male for questioning reference to threats of death.

Police initiated an investigation after several recordings of a male threatening to kill police officers was publicly posted on various social media sites. The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect by officers of the Firearm Tracing and Investigation Unit, shortly after 10:00pm on Friday 21st August 2015.

Two men arrested by DEU officers for drug possession - In the first incident, shortly after 7:00am on Friday 21st August 2015, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on information executed a search warrant on a residence situated at Cambridge Lane, where a large quantity of Marijuana was discovered. A 43 – year old man was taken into custody for questioning.
In the second incident, around 12:00noon on Friday 21st August 2015, a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) acting on information executed a search warrant on a residence situated at Iguana Way off Carmichael Road, where a quantity of marijuana was discovered. A 25 – year old man was taken into custody for questioning.

Handgun seized by police - According to report, shortly after 7:00pm, on Friday 21st August 2015, officers from the Central Detective Unit (CDU), acting on intelligence, went to a bushy area in Yellow Elder Gardens, where they uncovered handgun along with one (1) live rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in connection with this discovery.

4 Arrested and 140 Drivers cited during Police Island-wide Operation -
Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, a large contingent of police officers carried out an island-wide operation in New Providence in Friday 21st August 2015, that targeted a number of persons involved in criminal activities, such and Drugs, Firearms, persons wanted for various criminal offences and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws.

During the operation, several vehicles and persons were search for firearms and drugs, 4 persons were arrested for breach of the Bail Act, stealing and causing damage, one local bar were closed for breach of the Business License Act and 140 drivers were cited for various traffic violations.
