Murder suspect to appear in court Friday - Drug arrest on Palm Beach St. - 2 firearms & ammo seized

Nassau, Bahamas - MAN TO APPEAR IN COURT TODAY ON MURDER AND ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES

Police are pleased to announce that an adult male will be arraigned in court at 12:00noon today (Friday 17th March 2017), to be formally charged with the murder of Delanzo Cartwright and the attempted murder of Tia Green and Devonte Kerr that occurred at Walnut Street, Pinewood Gardens on 10th March 2017.

MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, a man was arrested on Wednesday 15th March 2017, after police found a quantity of dangerous drugs in a vehicle he was driving.

According to reports, around 10:30am, Mobile Division officers were on routine patrol on Palm Beach Street, when a white Maxima motorcar being driven by the man was intercepted.

The vehicle was searched and 160 small packages of marijuana were found. The man was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.

POLICE SEIZED TWO FIREARMS AND A LARGE AMOUNT OF AMMUNITION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, police are reporting the seizure of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition in separate incidents on Thursday 16th March 2017.

In the first incident, shortly after 7:00am, Mobile Division officers acting on information went to a premises located on Emanuel Drive off Soldier Road, where a .30 revolver along with 6 live rounds of ammunition was found. No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

 

In the second incident, which occurred shortly before 1:00pm, officers assigned to the Selective Enforcement Team carried out an operation on Avocado Street, Pinewood Gardens and 338 live rounds of assorted ammunition was found hidden in bushes at the rear of a home. No one was arrested in relation to the seizure.

In the final incident a man walking on Blue Hill Road and Martin Street was taken into custody for being in possession of an illegal pistol. Reports are that shortly before 10:00pm, officers from the Selective Enforcement Team were on mobile patrol when a man was seen acting in a suspicious manner. He was accosted, searched and a 9mm pistol and ten live rounds of ammunition were found in his possession.
