Nassau Murder Suspect Captured and Firearm Seized as Operation Showtime Sweeps New Providence

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are reporting the seizure of a firearm and the capture of a murder suspect during day two of “Operation Showtime” held in New Providence on Thursday 16th October 2014.The operation is aimed at disrupting crime groups and targeting persons involved in criminal activities, such and Drugs and Firearms, Persons wanted for various criminal offences, Prolific Offenders, Persons wanted for Outstanding Court Warrants and motorists operating in Breach of the Traffic Laws.

• Shortly after 6:00pm a 51 – year old man of Johnson Alley was arrested for questioning reference to Murder

• Shortly before 9:00pm a 26 – year old man of Garden Hills was arrested for possession of a handgun

• Around 8:30pm two women ages 18 and 31 along with a 28 – year old man was arrested for Possession of Dangerous Drugs

• Shortly after 1:00am this morning a 33 – year old man of Lincoln Boulevard was arrested for Attempted Murder

Additionally, 23 other persons were arrested for various crimes to include, armed robbery, firearms, drugs and outstanding court warrants.

The operation, which is consistent with the Commissioner‘s Policing Priorities for 2014, was under the command of Assistant Commissioner Anthony Ferguson.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force remains relentless in bringing perpetrators of crime and violence to justice, and is committed to protecting the lives and properties of citizens. Police are once again appealing to members of the public to play their part in the fight against crime by reporting all incidents of crime to the authorities.

POLICE are also appealing to anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of wanted persons or any information about crimes and other illegal activities in their communities, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands) or the nearest Police Station
