Nassau: Shootings on Pine Yard Rd and Cowpen Rd - American visitor arrested for drug possession

US VISITOR ARRESTED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, officers from Tourism Policing Unit took into custody an American man from Florida, after they found a quantity of dangerous drugs in his possession on Saturday 8th April 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 11:00am, officers from the Tourism Policing Unit, were on routine foot patrol at Pompey Square, when the saw the American male who aroused their suspicion. The officers conducted a search of the male and found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The male was then taken into custody.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECTS IN TWO SEPARATE SHOOTINGS

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating the suspects responsible for two separate shooting incidents that have left two men detained in hospital on Sunday 9th April 2017.

In the first incident, shortly before 1:00am, a man was standing in front of a home at Pine Yard Road, where he was attending a party, when the occupants of white Honda vehicle pulled up and shot him before speeding off. The man was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

In the first incident, shortly after 1:00am, a man was walking on Cowpen Road just west of Faith Avenue, when a man armed with a handgun approached him and shot him before fleeing on foot. The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
