Nassau anti-crime operations reap 12 arrests and seizure of drugs, ammunition, and stolen vehicle

POLICE ANTI-CRIME OPERATION REAPING MORE RESULTS:DRUGS, AMMUNITION AND STOLEN VEHICLE SEIZED OVERNIGHT

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are reporting the seizure of a large quantity pounds of marijuana and ammunition, a stolen vehicle and the arrest of 12 persons for a number of offences including, robbery, stealing, possession of dangerous drugs and ammunition as they intensified their Island-wide anti-crime operation in New Providence last evening.

The operation which is consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, is part of the force’s strategy to cut down on criminal activity by targeting problem locations and persons engaged in criminal activities such as, murder, armed robbery, rape, shootings, stolen vehicle, firearms and drugs.During last night’s operation two significant arrests were made:

The first arrest occurred shortly after 7:00pm, when officers from the operation team arrested two males, ages 50 and 23 at New Hope Drive, after they found them in possession of a stolen Honda Accord vehicle.

The second arrest occurred around 10:30pm, when officers from the operation team executed search warrant at a home located at Wilkinson Street, where they found just over 20 pounds of marijuana and 43 rounds of ammunition. Two males ages 49 and 22 were taken into custody for questioning.

12 ARRESTED DURING SOUTHWESTERN DIVISION OPERATION

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, Southwestern Division officers conducted an operation in the division on Thursday 26th March 2015, that targeted persons wanted for various criminal offences.

The operation resulted in the arrest of 12 persons for housebreaking, possession of dangerous drugs and outstanding court warrants.
