Nassau high speed chase results in 2 arrests and 2 guns seized

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, courageous officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force arrested two adult males and seized two illegal firearms following a high speed chase on Tuesday 8th November 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 9:30am, Police received a report of gunshots being heard in the Sunset Park area off Carmichael Road. When responding officers arrived in the area they saw two males in suspicious black Honda Accord vehicle who, fired gunshots at the officers and sped away quickly leading police on a high-speed chase.

The chase continued throughout the Carmichael Road area and onto Tonique Williams-Darling Highway where the vehicle turn off on a track road and came to a stop. Both suspects fled from the vehicle on foot. The officers gave chase and arrested one of the suspects hiding in nearby bushes. A short time later the other suspect was found in a nearby community. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered an AK-47 Assault Rifle with 19 rounds of ammunition along with a 9 millimeter handgun with 11 rounds of ammunition. The two suspects are assisting police with their investigations into a number of serious crime related incidents.
