Nassau man who pointed gun at police shot dead

Nassau, Bahamas  - A man is dead after he pointed a handgun at police officers on Sunday 23rd August 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 10:00pm, police received information that a group of young men were armed with firearms in front of a home located at Providence Avenue near Infant View Road.

Police upon arrival at Providence Avenue met a group of males standing in front of a home. The men fled on seeing the police. Police gave chase and caught up with one of the males who pointed a handgun at them. Police in defense of their lives fired upon the male, fatally shooting him. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. Police recovered a handgun that the male dropped to the ground.

Her Majesty’s Coroner, Mrs. Jeanine Weech-Gomez visited the scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
