Nassau police report 2 armed robberies, firearms & ammo seized, and 6 arrests

FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION SEIZED BY POLICE

In the first incident, shortly after 1:00am on Saturday 10th October 2015, officers from the Flying Squad while on routine patrol conducted a search of a parked vehicle on Fox Hill Road and uncovered a shotgun. In the second incident, around 2:00am on Saturday 10th October 2015, officers from the Flying Squad acting on information uncovered a handgun along with 14 rounds of ammunition through a track road on Fox Hill Road. An adult male was taken into custody in connection with this discovery.

In three separate incidents on Friday 9th October 2015, officers from the Eastern Division acting on information uncovered 50 rounds of ammunition in bushes located in Fox Hill.

6 ARRESTED BY POLICE SPECIAL OPERATION TEAM

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2015, a special police operations team conducted an operation throughout the streets of New Providence on Friday 9th October 2015, that resulted in the arrest of 6 persons for various offences such as, Indecent Assault, House Breaking, Causing Grievous Harm and Threats of Death.

SUSPECTS IN 2 ARM ROBBERIES BEING SOUGHT BY POLICE

In the first incident, shortly before 8:00pm on Friday 9th October 2015, two men armed with a handgun robbed a convenience store located on Zion Boulevard of a small amount of cash before fleeing in a champagne coloured Honda vehicle.

In the second incident, shortly after 12:30am on Saturday 10th October 2015, a man and a woman was sitting in a vehicle in front of a home located on Sea View Drive, when two males approached and robbed them of a handbag and a cell phone before fleeing on foot.

Investigations are ongoing.
