Nassau police report house-breaking suspect shot by police in stolen vehicle

HOUSE-BREAKING SUSPECT SHOT BY POLICE IN STOLEN
VEHICLE

Nassau, Bahamas - A 22 year old male of Pinewood Gardens is in hospital after being shot by police. Initial police reports indicate that around 9:30 am on Thursday 02nd February, 2012 police received information that a home at Monastery Park off Prince Charles Drive was  being broken into.

Police responded and while enroute observed a gray Honda vehicle occupied by a male fleeing the area. Officers pursued the vehicle into the Canterbury Park area off Prince Charles, where the vehicle was intercepted by police. It is reported that the suspect, in an effort to evade police, caused damage to a police cruiser and to two (2) male officers. The two (2) officers were taken to hospital where they were treated and discharged.
The suspect received multiple gunshot injuries to the body and was taken to hospital where he is detained in serious condition and in police custody.

Police are seeking two (2) additional males in connection with incident and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information regarding this or any other incident to contact police at 919, 322-3333, the CENTRAL DETECTIVE UNIT @502-9991, 502-9910 or CRIME STOPPERS @ 328-TIPS.

MOBILE POLICE UNCOVER FIREARM
In keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan, “Tackling Crime”, officers of the Mobile Division removed another firearm from the streets of New Providence.

According to police reports around 5:10 pm on Thursday 2nd February, 2012 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information proceeded to a track road at Butler Alley off Wulff Road where they discovered a handgun.
No one was taken into custody. Active police investigation continues.

POLICE INVESTIGATES DOUBLE SHOOTING
Police are investigating a shooting incident that has left two (2) brothers in hospital. The incident reportedly occurred around 12:23 pm on Thursday 02nd February, 2012.

Initial police reports indicate that the victims were at Homestead Street off Moore Avenue when they got into an altercation with another man and were subsequently shot.

The 30 year old brother received a gunshot injury to the thigh while the other, age 24 years, received multiple gunshot injuries to the body. Both victims were taken to hospital via EMS personnel where the 30 year old remain in stable condition and the 24 year old in serious condition.
Active police investigations continue.

SUSPECT TURNS HIMSELF INTO POLICE
On Wednesday 01st February, 2012 police issued a wanted bulletin for 50 year old COLIN IRVIN THOMAS BASTIAN of SUMMER HAVEN, SOUTH BEACH. Police wish to inform that around 11:00 am on Thursday 02nd
February, 2012 the suspect turned himself into officers at the Cable Beach Police Station. Active police investigations continue.
