New Providence Police Investigate traffic fatality & shooting incident - Conduct operation restore

POLICE INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC FATALITY

Police are investigating a traffic accident that has left a man dead.

The incident reportedly occurred around 1:00 am on Sunday 5th February, 2012 at East Bay Street, west of the Harbour Bay Shopping Plaza.

Initial reports are that a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that did not remain on the scene.Police are investigating and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information regarding this incident to contact police at 919 or the Traffic Police Station at 393-7204.

SOUTHEASTERN POLICE CONDUCTS OPERATION RESTORE

In keeping with the Commissioner of Police Policing Plan “Tackling Crime”, officers of the Southeastern Division (East Street South Police Station) continued with its operation, “Restore” within their divisional boundary.Officers conducted road checks and executed search warrants on a number of homes in the area.The operation resulted in eleven (11) drivers being cited for various traffic offences such as a one or no rear lamp working and unlicensed and uninspected vehicle.

Additionally, four (4) males were arrested in separate incidents after officers executed search warrants on the homes and discovered a quantity of suspected marijuana.The operation was held on Saturday 4th February, 2012.

Police are encouraging members of the public to ensure that they adhere to all laws as failure to do so, will result in you being placed before the courts.

MOBILE POLICE ARREST ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT

A 23 year old male of Armbrister Street, Fox Hill is in police custody after being found in possession of handgun and ammunition.

Initial police reports indicate that around 3:15 am on Sunday 5th February, 2012 police received information of an armed robbery in the area of Fox Hill Park.

Officers of the Mobile Division responded and while on Reeves Street, Fox Hill observed a male wearing a jeans pants and black shirt the male acting suspiciously.

Officers conducted a search of the man and discovered the items. Active police investigations continue.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT

Police are investigating a shooting incident that has left a male in hospital.The incident reportedly occurred around 1:20 am on Sunday 5th February, 2012.According to police reports a male and a female on arrival to a residence at Haven Sub- division were approached by three (3) men one of whom were armed with a handgun and demanded cash.The victims reportedly told the culprits they had no cash; subsequently, the male was shot to the thigh and the female assaulted.

Both people were taken to hospital where they are detained in stable condition.The culprits fled the area in a gold 1999 Honda CRV, the property of the male victim.Police are investigating and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information regarding this incident to contact police. Active police investigations continue.
